A MOSSMAN-based business consultant is using her corporate expertise to keep dollars in Douglas Shire.
Symbiotic Enterprising Founder Robyn Jarram, who is also runs Mossman Yoga Studio, wants to use her experience in tender and grant writing to give local small businesses access to government funding.
It comes as the State Government released $100 million package for small businesses to access grants of up to $10,000.
Robyn is one of many local business owners backing the Buy Douglas: Build Douglas campaign.
She said she is was willing to help the community get as much money as possible.
“There are grant funding opportunities available for small businesses to support them through this difficult time,” she said.
“Winning tenders and government funding will bring dollars into our community to prop up our local economy and ultimately benefit Douglas Shire individuals and families.
“The Douglas Shire Council along with the Federal and State Governments will be asking businesses to tender for work to help stimulate our economy and to keep people employed.”
Robyn has been delivering writing services to clients across Australia for over 17 years and has almost 25 years’ experience as a professional business writer.
Her services include tender writing, grant writing, preparation of management and services plans, risk assessments, policy and procedure writing, technical specification writing, instructional manuals, staff profiles, resumes and much more.
Locally, through Robyn’s tender writing work she has contributed to over $15 million of small business growth in the Douglas Shire in the past 5 years. This has included winning contracts for local businesses to provide services to the Douglas Shire Council, Cairns Council and Townsville City Council.
Her work in the grant writing space has resulted in over $2 million of government funding distributed to not-for-profit community groups in the Douglas Shire.
Robyn was forced to close her Mossman Yoga Studio when lockdown restrictions took hold in March this year.
At the time of its closure, Mossman Yoga Studio was only 16 months old and much loved by the community.
“It’s been extremely stressful dealing with rent issues, legal matters and worrying about the health and wellbeing of our community, as well as my own mental and physical health,” Robyn said.
“Mossman Yoga Studio was a place for our community to relax, escape and to be with themselves with no interferences. As it is a new business it’s not clear yet if it will survive through these difficult times.”
Robyn has a deep understanding of government requirements and her ability to interpret tender documentation takes the pain away from small business owners who feel overwhelmed by the complexity of legal jargon.
A full understanding of the formal tender process, response requirements and knowing how to properly answer the questions is key to tendering success.
